Ms. Abigail Chamberlain
Welcome Penn Families!

My name is Abby Chamberlain, and I am thrilled to join the Penn community this year as the new School Counselor! I am passionate about helping students achieve self-confidence and success as they learn how to solve problems, navigate schoolwork, and face life challenges. I look forward to working with you this year to help our students grow!

Counseling Services
As a School Counselor, my role is to promote the academic, personal, and social development of all students. I offer a number of services to achieve this goal:
  • Classroom Guidance Lessons help students learn age-appropriate social, emotional, and academic skills. I will also be meeting weekly with all 8th graders to guide them through the high school application process and help them prepare for a successful transition to ninth grade.
  • Group Counseling supports the needs of students experiencing similar concerns, such as developing social or study skills, managing anger, or coping with trauma. Groups usually range from 6-8 students and last for 6-10 weeks.
  • Individual Counseling will be offered for students needing individualized social, emotional, or behavioral support. In addition, students are always welcome to see me when they have a question or concern.
  • Consultation and Referral services are also available. I am happy to meet with you to discuss the needs of your student and offer the support they need, as well as point you to other resources and services that will benefit your student.
Confidentiality promotes the safety, trust, and privacy of your student. As such, please note that all information discussed is confidential between me and the student UNLESS they share with me that someone is hurting them, that they are planning on hurting themselves or another person, or they give me permission to share

I will send home notification if your student is assigned to receive behavioral health services (such as individual or group counseling). If you do NOT want your student to receive the assigned services, please call me, email me, or drop by my office. Otherwise, your student will begin receiving services as soon as they can be scheduled. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you ever have questions about the services your student is receiving.

Requesting Services
If you would like to request counseling services for your student, click on "Counseling Services" to the left and then click on the appropriate counseling request link, or you can pick up a paper counseling referral form from my office (Room 114).

As always, you are welcome to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or ideas of how I can better serve the Penn community. I'm looking forward to a great year working with you and your students!
